Description: 2008 Annual International Woodcarvers Festival; Enter up to 3 pieces of your best work in each category listed below. You cannot enter a carving in another category if it would fit in an existing category. Example: a game bird could not be placed in the miscellaneous category. Entries for the novice category are for carvers with less than one year experience.
Category #: 01 Novice (all types of carvings); 16 Animal Caricatures; 02 Santas; 17 Human Realistic; 03 Myth and Legend; 18 Human Caricatures; 04 Canes and Walking Sticks; 19 Fish and Marine; 05 Bark Carving; 20 Flat Scene relief; 10 Game birds; 21 Just for Show; 11 Nongame birds (song birds); 22 Chip carving; 12 Nongame birds (raptors); 23 Miscellaneous; 13 Nongame birds (loons, all others); 24 Mayor’s Award; 14 Realistic animals (except birds, fish; 25 Scroll Work and stylized animals); 26 Marketry; 15 Stylized animals; 27 Wood Burning; 28 Wood Cuts

No charge for displays or competition, but a state park vehicle permit is required. You can reserve a campsite by calling 1-866-85PARKS or internationally 1-. Phones are open 7am to 10pm, 7 days a week. You can also reserve your site on-line at www.stayatmnparks.com. Reservations can be made 3 to 90 days prior to date of arrival. Designate “lakeside” if you want to be part of the carver group, if possible. Please specify if you need an electric camp site.
Along with the category awards, a special Mayors Award will be given to the carver entering the best carved Black-Eyed Susan flower. The carving submitted for judging should be no larger then 12 inches tall. See list of judging categories and additional rules and tips on reverse.
